There doesn't seem to be a lot of development in the middle of Tasmania. Not too far out of Hobart, population dwindles and towns give way to a series of national parks. In a stretch of about 150 kilometers, this little rest stop is the only sign of commercial services. Of course, we stopped and had a flat white and shared a muffin. The state has harnessed water power in the higher elevation rainforests with a multitude of dams to generate enough hydro-electric power to run the entire island.
